Review: World Of Jenks

I have become addicted to a new show on MTV, World Of Jenks! This show opens your eyes to the lives of others that you wouldn't see unless you spent time with them. Andrew Jenks is a 24 yr old aspiring documentary filmmaker, and he goes and spends a week with young adults whos lives are different from the ordinary.

I was amazed by the episode where he spent a week with a 20 yr old Autistic boy named Chad. I have a 4 yr old autistic son and i know how difficult it can be now, but after watching Andrew interact with Chad, I now know what i may have to handle as my son ages. Andrew Jenks doesn't judge people, he sincerely wants to know what its like to be these people! This show gives you a new outlook on things and shows you how others are! This episode shows that no matter what the age, there is always programs to help. Chad goes to a special school where he learns things he needs to know on a daily basis, like cleaning, calling 911 and counting money! This episode was super eye opening to me.

Another episode that was pretty good was when Andrew spent a week with someone that is "Houseless". Houseless is what Danielle, a 22 yr old girl who has been living on the streets for 9 years, calls being homeless! When i hear homeless i think these people aren't eating and they have no place to sleep, but Danielle shows Andrew its not like that! Its just that she doesn't have a home to go to every night. She shows him how to panhandle, how to hitchhike and how she lives day to day.

This is an amazing new show. If you haven't yet seen it, its on MTV on Monday Nights at 10pm. I highly recommend this amazing show to everyone that wants to see life in the eyes of someone else. I am looking forward to watching every episode that comes out for this show! Completely Amazing!

I'm Back.....And with lots to tell

I really have been slacking in my blog posts, what over a year? *lol* Its been a hard year. My son and I have relocated closer to my family after a horrid break up. It is what was best for me and him. We are happy and surrounded by amazing people! My son just recently turned 4! Oh where does the time go!? He is the most amazing little guy in the world! He is what keeps me going daily!

We have finally mastered using the big boy Potty. No More Diapers! YAHHH!! It took a while and was a lot of accidents, but we are now in big boy Sponge-bob underwear and extremely happy!!

Now, Lets talk Silly Bands! I received 2 Silly Bands for my birthday from my 8 yr old nephew. I now know why a lot of schools are banning these little suckers. If someone grabs onto one of them and pulls and lets go......OUCH......it hurts a lot! I mean they are fun, you can get a package at Walmart for $1, but why wear like 50 on each arm? Am I missing something here? These things really do come in like a million shapes. I have accumulated a number of these from my nephew, i think i have every animal possible! Parents should know its not save to wear them to bed......right?? I surely hope so.

We recently got a new kitty to add to the family, we had two, but unfortunately, our one kitty passed away today. My son doesn't yet understand the death and dying points of life. We still have our two crazy dogs and our one kitten. I think we are good with animals for a while. My son thinks that he can treat and play with ALL animals like he does his puppy, and it doesn't work like that, especially with a Cat! Choose your pets wisely when it comes to children. And always remember, adopting an animal from your local shelter is an amazing idea. Save one of those adorable critters from being put down. They are all looking for great homes. Help one of them out of the cage and into your heart and your family.

Another crazy thing thats been going on lately, my son refuses to go to bed, it is now almost 2am, and he is still up, this has been going on for weeks now. He doesn't take naps, he doesn't get sugar and soda, he is just all wound up and doesn't want to sleep. I have no clue whats going on, but its really taking a toll on me lately! We have an appointment next week, and I will be having a discussion with his Doctor about this. I know hes probably going to say, "Oh this is normal, it will go away with time" but, come on Doc, Mommy needs some sleep too! i can't depend on my coffee and Mt. Dew to keep me going all day. I love my son more than anything in the entire world, but mommy loves sleep too!

Well I hope all of you are doing well and still following me! So sorry for the lack of blogs, but i'm back, i'll make sure to put up daily posts again!

I Have A Sick Kiddo :(

So i havn't been posting as much as usual, because my kiddo is super sick. At first they said it was just his sinuses. Well i'm starting to think its something else. We have been dealing with all this crazyness since The weekend. He is sneezing, coughing, throwing up, not wanting to eat, laying around, barely sleeping because he keeps coughing so much, very irriatable, running a steady 103.5 temp, and it only goes down for about 5 hours with motrin then its right back up, and he isn't pooping. They gave us an antibiotic, and then changed it again today. Something else has to be going on. I literally sat up all night lastnight with him propped up against me so he wouldn't cough so much so he could get a little sleep. I took him into the dr. first thing this morning and they switched the antibiotic and said if hes not better by saturday they want to see him again. Well i desided i'm not listening anymore. If he keeps the coughing and puking and the high temp, i'm taking him directly to the ER, because maybe they have someone there thats a little smarter and can tell me what i should do. The Peds could be right, but a second opinion never hurt.

So untill then, I'll be cuddled up on the couch with him watching his favorite Movies: Bolt, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Marly and Me! :) He loves his puppies!

The Best Gifts are Hand Made:Fathers Day Hand Crafted Gift Ideas

I think the best gifts from kids are the ones they make themselves and with a little help from mom of dad. I know when i was a kid, My mom use to help me make my dad his fathers day gift and he loved them. I think he still has them. :) He says they fill a special place in his heart. :) I love my Dad! :)

So just since father's day is coming up soon, i thought i would share some ideas of what Mom and the kidos can work on to make dads day a special one, filled with smiles and happiness.

This idea i think is great. It isn't for the little kids, or the kids that have a habbit of putting things in their mouths.

Make dad an awesome pair of home made Boxers! These will make a great gift for Dad.

All you need is:

-A pair of light colored or white boxer shorts

-Fabric Paint or Fabric Markers

For the smaller kids, you might try the markers instead of the paints. But either will work.

Maybe on one side you could trace the kido's hands on them, or a foot or just let them get creative with the paint and markers. And on the other side Put Nice and Big, WORLDS BEST DADDY!

Dad is bound to love these and the kids will have a great time making them and giving them to dad for his gift.

This next one is going to be a great and fun idea for any child. We all know how disorganized Dads trunk is, so this is something the kids will have fun doing.

All You Need Is:

-Cardboard Box

-Markers

-Rope

First thing you do is turn the kids loose on the box with the markers! Let them decorate it however they want, to make it special for Dad. Draw pictures of the family on it, or write WORLDS GREATEST DAD on it. Then after your all done, the next step is for Mom to do. You have to cut a hole on each side of the box, far enough down that it dosn't break from carrying it. Then you tie a knot in the rope on one end and put it through the hole so the knot is on the inside of the box. Then do the same thing for the other side. And TADA You have a Daddy Trunk Tote.

Ever Dad has atleast one paper weight on their desk, so this next one is to replace that boring paper weight with a cute one that will make him think about his kidos every time he looks at it.

All You need is:

-A Round Rock

-Non-Toxic Paint

-Glue

-Google Eyes

-Yarn

First you have to paint the rock, maybe a pale pink or white color. Once the paint is dry, you can get some yarn and cut it into small strands and glue it on for the hair. Then glue on the Google Eyes and then paint on a mouth and other features you want on your little rock paper weight. The kids can paint it to look like themselves or to look like Daddy! It will make a perfect Fathers Day Gift!!

And another fun idea is something for Mommy and the Kidos to do together. While daddy is getting ready for work or on his way to work, Log onto the computer and Send Dad a Fathers E-Card or write him an email that tells him how much you love him and how special he is, so he'll find it when he logs onto his email when he gets to work. It is a sure thing to Brighten his day!

These ideas will be fun and will have a lot of special meaning to the special Dad who recieves them.

I'm alive!!! :) Potty News! Yah Damien!!

I'm here, i'm not dead! lol I just got super busy with my son, Damien. Its been a hard week. We finally got him into the CDU at Childrens and had his evaluation done. They diagnosed him with ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorder! It was no suprise to me. None at all. But it dosn't make me think any different! Hes 2.5 yrs old. Hes a boy. There are going to be issues! But i still love him no matter what! :)

On a Better Note, Damien is now excited to use his Big Boy Potty! He only pee'd 3 times in his diaper today, all the other times he pulled me to his potty and went pee AND Poop!! I am so proud of him!! He use to just put his toys in the potty, :) But now hes using it! I couldn't be happier!!!!!

I promise to write more tomorrow, I have some fun new outdoor and indoor activities to share with all you wonderful readers i have!! :)

Here is a picture that shows you just how much alike my kido and my Puppy Are! They are Adorable and I love them so much! :) And they love their Naps!! :)

Enjoy The Weather! Outside Craft Ideas For Fun In The Sun

My son loves to be outside and I have to say, i enjoy it too! :) And with the weather getting so nice, I went out and found some fun craft ideas that you can do with the kidos outside.

This first one is an outside or inside job! Its called a Growing Magnet. I just love this idea! Makes a great gift for grammy or Mom!

All you need is:

1. An empty Pill bottle or a see through film container

2. Cotton Balls

3. Fast Growing plant seeds(bean plans work great)

4. Strip of Magnet

5. Water

First make sure your pill bottle is clean and dry. Attatch the magnet onto the side of the bottle. You can either use the magnets that come with the sticky side, or you can use a hot glue gun and glue a hefty duty magnet on to the bottle. You can also decorate the bottle, but don't over decorate it, you'll want to see how the roots spread in your bottle once your plant starts to grow. Next you need to put a couple cotton balls in the bottle, and add a few drops of water, just enough to wet the cotton balls. Now put in the seed of your choice. Add one more cotton ball on top of the seed and add some water to that one too.

You can now attatch it to the fridge or any other surface that it will stick to. And in no time, you will have yourself a little plant sprouting up out of your pill bottle. Its pretty cool to be able to see the roots of the plant through the side of the bottle too! :) Once its pretty big, you can replant it in a pot or outside so it can grow bigger! Once you have done that, you can start the process all over! The kids will love this idea! And you can give them as gifts to Grammy or even for Mom on Mothers Day!

This Next one is a great idea! I don't know about you, but when i was little, i had a Pet Rock! My Mom told me it would die and dissapear if i didn't take care of it, so i took care of it, and after about 5 or 6 months of making sure it was clean and sitting it at the dinner table with me and taking it outside, my mom desided I was ready for a real pet, and she got me a Guinea pig. :) Some of you moms might want to try that with your kidos! Always start out with a small pet!

All you need is:

1. Rocks(send the kids out to find just the perfect Pet Rock Friend)

2. Non Toxic Paints and paint brushes

3. Glue

4. Google Eyes(or you can paint them on)

5. Yarn or Puff balls

I love the idea for the Pig Rock pet so thats the one i'm going to tell you guys how to make. First you have to have that perfect Rock. I find it works best if you use super glue to glue everything on, AFTER the paint dries. Let the kidos go wild here. Let them paint their rock however they want it. So for the Pig, You paint the rock all pink and maybe a little bit of Red on the cheeks. You can either paint the eyes on or you can just glue on some google eyes. I think it works best to paint them on, that way you don't have a Dr. Mommy day when your kido comes running screaming saying their Pet Rock lost its eye and its dying! Once all the paint is dry, Try glueing a painted pink button under the eyes for that perfect piggy nose. You can also glue on some pink puffs on the top for ears.

These little guys are adorable!! Your kids can make them into any animal they want. Cats, Dogs, birds, fish, whatever their little hearts desire.

These arn't just for the kidos! A friend of mine found a bunch of bigger rocks and painted them into different animals and bugs and put them all through her garden. They look super cute and brighten up her garden big time.

You can always find something to have fun with, Inside or Outside. So Enjoy the nice weather and have fun.

Fun with your Empty Baby Food Jars

I have so many jars of baby food in my pantry, and my son dosn't eat them. I have offered them to a few people, but no one wants them, so i desided it was time to do something with them, why not do something Fun with them! :) So i found these fun things to try.

One of my favorite ideas for your empty baby food jars is, turning them into little snow globes. They are super cute, and super cheap to make and they make great gifts for the kids to give to friends and family.

All you need is:

1. An empty Baby Food Jar

2. Glitter

3. A little plastic Toy (you can use pictures too)

4. Water proof Glue

5. Water

6. Paint

This one is pretty simple. Make sure you jar is nice and clean and dry. Take the lid off of your jar and you can paint it any color. Next you will need to get your toy of your choice. Make sure your lid is dry from the paint. Glue the toy of your choice to the lid with the water proof glue and let it dry. I like to add a little glitter to the glue, just so that when it dries, you don't see any of the extra glue. Once the glue has dried, fill your jar a little over half way with water and top it off with a sprinkle or two of any color glitter. Now you have to carefully put the lid on the jar. You might get a little water leaking out, but it can be cleaned up easy. Make sure your lid is on tight and flip your jar over and TADA....... A cute little Snow Globe.

You can also use a photo in your snow globe too. Get a picture of your choice and size it to the size of the jar your using. Get some packing tape and cover the picture, both sides so that no water can get to the picture. Or you could have it laminated. Slide the picture into the jar and push it onto the wall of the jar. Add your water and glitter and close your jar up nice and tight. You can add a little ribbon around the lid of the jar or some jewels to the sides of the jar if you would like to perk it up a little more

Its pretty simple and the kids will love it.

Another great idea is turning the jars into little animals. Its fun and easy and a great time for the kidos.

You will Need:

1. An Empty Baby food Jar or two

2. Some None Toxic Paint

3. Google Eyes

4. Some colored cotton puffs

5. Glue

6. Construction Paper

First make sure your jars are clean and dry. Figure out what you want to make your baby food jar into, and pick the color of paint you will need. I'm going to tell you how to make the little Chicks. Get some Yellow Paint and pour some into the Jar and hand it off to your kido and tell them to shake shake shake. While they are shaking the jar to spread the paint all over the inside of the jar, you can start cutting out the beek for the chick and even little wings if you want to add them on. You can glue the little google eyes onto the front of the jar and the little beek. You can also glue on some yellow cotton puffs onto the top of the jar for a cute effect.

You can make your baby food jars into just about anything for any holiday or into any kind of animals just for fun. You can make them into santa for xmas, or bunnies and chicks for easter, or a turkey for thanksgiving or just farm animals and cats and dogs for fun. Whatever animals your kids love, you can make your baby food jars into.

These are fun things to make, but arn't a great idea for the kids to play with because they could drop them and they could break and someone could get hurt. So make these as decorations and sit them on a shelf afterwards.

One Busy Momma! A Worthy Cause and New Give Aways

Sorry to everyone thats a loyal Reader here at Moms Helping Moms! This momma has been one busy Momma lately! Not only has my little guy been feeling a little under the weather, the last few days I havn't been feeling all that great either. I think there is some kind of stomach flu going around. They are going through a lot of hard times, and they need everyones thoughts and prayers to ask God for another miracle for their beautiful little girl, Kayleigh. She is 10 months old and a beautiful little girl, but she needs everyones support and so does her family to make it through these hard times. Turn Old Crayons into New Crayons!

I know my son is so picky when it comes to his toys. He hates to share, but he loves to get new toys. I'm sure you all have that box of broken crayons sitting around somewhere if not you can always go buy a box of the cheap ones for this fun project.

My son loves to break those regular straight long crayons right in half. So this project is perfect for him to help with. Get all the old crayons you have laying around and take the papers off yourself, because its hard for the kidos and then let the kidos break them up into little peices and put them in a big bowl.

This will give you plenty of time to safely turn the oven on and preheat it without them running into the kitchen. Preheat the oven to 275 degrees.

Once you have all the crayons broke up into peices, you put them in cupcake tins or whats even easier is Silicone trays. That makes it easier to just pop them right out when they are cooled down and finished. It dosn't matter what kind of trays you use, or what shape, the kids are going to love these. If you are going to use a tin cupcake pan, i would suggest putting cupcake papers in them, just so it is easier to take them out of the pan later. A light spraying of PAM on the inside of the trays will make it easier to get them out as well.

You can put the same colors in each cupcake hole or you can mix them up. Whatever you want to do, there is no wrong color mix for the kids. Once you have them all in the trays, put them in the oven for about 8-10 minutes or untill they are completly melted.

Take them out of the oven VERY Carefully. They will be extreamly hot and if you spill them, it will leave a mark on your carpet/floor that will be super hard to get off. You can leave the crayons the way they are or you can run a toothpick through them to mix the colors up a little bit. Your NEW Crayons will need to cool for about an hour or so.

Once they are cooled, just take them out of the containers and TADA There you have it, New Crayons of whatever shape and sizes you and the kidos want. Its easy to save money and Go Green these days when you use a little imaginiation.

Make a Home Made Piggy Bank with the Kidos

I have been looking all over for new fun activities to do with my 2 year old on these icky rainy days, and i found a few pretty amazing and pretty fun activities we are going to try this weekend.

This one is my favorite. Make your own piggy bank.

This one you can let the kidos use their imagination while creating! You can use an empty Bleach Bottle, a 2 liter soda bottle, an empty mayo jar, or a peanut butter jar. Whatever you have thats plastic and empty, Big or small, you can turn into a great arts and craft idea for the kidos.

1. First You will need to use a box cutter to cut a slot for the money in the top. make sure its big enough for any coin to fit in. Also cut a small hole in the bottom of the bottle to put the little piggies tail.

2. Now this is where the fun begins. You can use paper, cloth or Paint to make this little guy whatever color or design you want. If you use paper or cloth, you can use a hot glue gun or even Elmers Glue to hold it on. If your going to use paint, make sure its non-toxic and safe for the kidos.

3. While the paint dries, you can let the kidos deside what kind of fabric or paper designs they want to add to their little piggy when its dry. You can also use this time to get some extra thick poster board or some cardboard and cut out the little piggies Ears and let the kids paint them too.

4. You can use Old spools from thread or even marshmellows as the piggies legs. Whatever makes you and the kidos smile :) I like the Marshmellow idea, because then you can use a marker and make little toes on them.

5. Once everything is dry, you can now hot glue the ears on to the little piggies head. And add some googly eyes onto your little piggy too. And don't forget to add his little legs and two dots for his nose or maybe an old button for his nose.

6. Once you have that all done and everything is finished, you can add the finishing touch......The piggies squiggly Tail. take a pipe cleaner and wrap it around your finger to shape it and then stick it in the hole you cut in the bottom of the bottle.

And There you go, you have a home made piggy bank! They don't have to look like piggies, they can be made into any animals and any colors or designs. Let the kids imagination take hold and create something new and exciting.

PJStar.com-Doctor says Baby died from infection, not starvation

So i saw a Link Update on my facebook this morning and couldn't help but click the link. www.Momslikeme.com had posted a link about a 5 month old's death.......This just makes me sick. Some people shouldn't be allowd to have children. This poor little 5 month old was left in a car seat for atleast 8-9 days in a home by himself. The parents just left him there. It stated in the article that he died from a bacterial infection, caused by not having his diaper changed for almost 9 days. And this poor little boy wasn't feed either. Everyone thought he died of starvation, but it was the infection that put the little boy into a colma like state where he then died. My question is, WHAT KIND OF PARENTS ARE YOU?!?!?! If you bring a baby into this world, Take care of it, or give it to someone that will. There are so many people out there that can't have children and would gladly take care of someone elses. This sickens me to no end! The parents of this little boy couldn't even look at the autopsy photos of their son, and tried to say they fed him and hour before he was found dead, strapped into a car seat in a snow suit. Carseats are made for a reason.......to transport your child in a CAR!! Not to be left sitting around in. Apparently the parents both face up to 100 yrs in prison for this. I belive they should get more than that! They let a child die, and had no remorse or sorrow. Death Penalty sounds good to me. Maybe they should both have to wear diapers and not have them changed, see how it feels. I just don't understand how this could happen! I just don't understand how someone could just let their child sit by themselves and not care what happens to them.

12 Money Saving Tips for Moms

We all know having kido's isn't cheap. We are constantly spending money on something. Well here are a few tips to saving some money so maybe at the end of the month you'll have a few extra bucks to spend on something nice for Mommy!

1. For you working moms and the hubby, Try brown bagging it for lunch. Instead of spending $5-10 a day on lunch, pack a lunch and save that money for your Date night once a month. You will be suprised at how much money you will save with brown bagging it.

2. For you mommy's that love to read when the little ones taking his nap, Don't buy costly books that are going to just sit around when you finish them. Go to your local library and find a good book. This way you can just return it and get a new one, no need to spend 20$ on a book you are going to read once, or sometimes never finish because its not what you thought it would be.

3. Buy used when you can. Consignment shops and Thrift stores are great. They have gently used and sometimes new items, for Half or even more of what you would pay for them in the store. Clothes are a great buy from consignment shops and thrift stores. Take a peek around. Spend 20$ on clothes for the kidos instead of 120$ at the store.

4. Start a SWAP Meet. Get a group of your Mommy/Daddy Friends together and help eachother out. Weather it be babysitting, cutting the grass, fixing the car or your plumbing, you can save a lot of money by helping a friend out. You watch their 3 kidos for a night so they can have a night out and they fix your car. Even swap. Everyone has a handy friend. Talk about it with your friends. Save yourself some money and them too.

5. When buying from stores, Shop the Clearance section. Something that is orginally 20$ might be marked down to 6$. Save Save Save!!!

6. Pay for things with Cash instead of your Credit/Debit Card. I have found if i go into a store with only 50$ cash, thats what i spend and thats it. If you have your debit/credit card with you, you are more inclined to spend more, because you know you can just swipe that little card. If you only have a certin amount of money, then thats all you can spend, end of story and it Saves you big time in the end.

7. Once in a while, skip your trip to the grocery store, and use what you have. We all know we have plenty of food in the freezer and pantry, but we just don't want to take the time to make it. So skip the shopping trip every 3rd or 4th time and take the challenge to use what you have and make an awsome dinner. Money saver right there.

8. Make food and freeze it. Make your own breads, cookies, muffins, meatloafs....etc.... Make food and put them in zipper bags and store them. Its quick, easy and less of a hassel when it comes to making dinner. And if you have these things on hand, its less you will be spending each month at the grocery store.

9. Say NO to Fast food and Ordering Out. Having a pizza delivered is 15$ these days. You can make your own for about 5$ at home. And this can also be fun, by letting the kidos in on the fun. Let them help put the toppings on. Save that extra 10$ for something you will NEED Later on.

10. Kick the Gym Membership to the Curb! Exercise at home with your kidos. Not only does it save you money, it saves you gas, and keeps your kidos healthy too.

11. Make your own decorations, cakes and games for birthday parties or baby/bridal showers. You can save a load of money on that. You can make a cake for maybe 10$ at home, but you would pay 20-30$ at the store. Plus its fun to get a group of your friends and kido's together for fun baking and craft ideas.

12. Ditch Paper towles completly from your home. You will save money if you just use regular towles around the house. This way you just toss them in the wash, instead of having to add the paper towels to your trash and then having to buy more. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle! :)

Right now, we all need to save and conserve as much as possible. With the tips i have listed, you can save a good bit of money. Put that money in an envelope and save it for when you REALLY NEED It. There are millions of money saving tips out there, but these are just a few i like to use. You will be suprised how much money you can save when you Plan things out.

Always Stop and Smell the Flowers

My Son desided when he saw a tulip outside the other day that he was going to take the time to stopand smell the flowers! :) He just recently picked up the SNIFFING Habbit! He sniffs things and says "EWWWW". Its adorable. So here are his pictures, i thought i would share them with my loyal readers to Brighten your day! :)

How Stinking Adorable is he? :) Remember to always let your kidos try new things. Always stop and Smell the flowers. Let them play in the dirt. Its not going to hurt them. And it makes for a great Photo Opportunity. :)

Raising A Baby On A Budget...Tips and Trics

Raising a baby isn't cheap! So i'm going to share some tricks, tips and ideas on how to raise your kido on a budge.

1. Buying in bulk never hurts. Sam's Club Memberships are like $40 for a year. And that $40 can save you hundreds of Dollars on Groceries. You can buy all your canned goods and non-parishables and stock up and save up.

2. When shopping, always take a list, and stick to the list. Search the stores website or flyer for sales and savings. Coupons are a great way to save some money.

3. Buying Generic never hurts. Its the same thing, just with a different name!

4. Diapers......Boy are they expensive. Buying them in bulk can save you a load of money. Cases are normally cheaper than the large bags. And also, do your shopping around.....Again the Generic are just as good. And don't forget to sign up for coupons and savings from your favorite diaper company! Cloth Diapers are also a money saver!!

5. Formula is super expensive. Remember that Powder is always cheaper. And to get more help if your a low income family, try applying for WIC.

6. When buying furniture for your little ones room, always buy what can grow with your kido. Convertable Cribs and Car Seats are a money saver. They go from Infant to Toddler in no time. You can always do Second Hand also! Goodwill, garage sales, craigslist, consignment shops. You can always find a deal. Just make sure to check for Recalls.

7. Coupons Coupons Coupons!!!! Find them in the flyers, online, from a friend, the sunday paper, Find them and Clip away! Just don't get Carried away! only clip for the things you normally use in the house.

8. Baby clothes are expensive too. But you can always save money in this department. Second hand is Awesome!! You can swap with friends, buy second hand. Most stores have sales at the end of each season. So keep your eyes peeled for those 2.99 outfits for next year!

9. The number one big time money saver is.....Breast Feeding and making your own baby foods. Breast Feeding cuts out that 25$ a can formula. And making your own baby food is easy, all you need is a blender and some fruits and vegies and TADA Blend Away!

There are so many ways to save money and raise your kidos on a budget. And remember you can always unload all that un-needed baby stuff to a consignment shop or list it on Craigslist and Make some extra money to put in the bank.

Time for Mom

As Moms, we all know how frustrating life can be at times and how often we think, "I NEED A VACATION". But we all know, our vacations come when the kidos take a nap or go to bed. So I thought I would share a few things I like to call "My Vacation" with my loyal readers......

1. Next time your out buying diapers or formula, swing over to the bath isle. Grab up a cheap bottle of bubble bath. When you get the kidos to bed, fill up the tub with water and add the bubbles and grab a good book and sit back and relax and catch up on that reading you have been missing out on.

2. We can't all afford those amazing foot spa's, but i have another option. Find a bassin, or you could even use the baby bath tub you don't use anymore. Fill it up with kinda hot water, and add in some baking soda and some sweet smelling soap, and just soak your feet in it for a good 15-20 minutes while you watch some tv, you'll be amazed at how your feet will feel when your finished. After you dry off your feet, put some baby lotion on them and you'r feet will feel like your baby's bum!

3. I find it great to catch an hour or two of mommy time if i get up a little before my little guy, or stay up a little later. I can get the bills paid without having crayon marks on my checks, sit down and watch a NON-Cartoon show on tv, or even take a nice hot shower. Every second is so enjoyable.

4. Me and some friends have organized a Baby Swap Group. When we feel we are about to go crazy, we just call up one of the girls and ask for an hour or two. Drop off the kidos at your friends house and go get a massage or a manacure. Whatever you Fancy. Ahhh Quiet time. And Vice Versa! We are a group of moms who understand how crazy days can get. So Start a Baby Swap group and have some Mommy Time.

5. And if this one isn't obvious, i don't know what would be. Hubby Duty!! When the Hubby has a day off, or when he gets home from work, Ask him to watch the kidos for an hour, and take some mommy time. It could be a hot shower, or a nice walk with the dog. Whatever you feel you need. And another thing the hubby can do is give you a nice relaxing massage after the kidos are to bed.

There is always something you can do to get a "Mommy Vacation" on a normal day. If you have any ideas that you use, feel free to share them in the comment section, i'm sure everyone would love to hear them :)

A Worthy Cause....Tide Loads of Hope

I was laying in bed lastnight, and i couldn't sleep so i was watching VH1 hoping i could finally fall asleep. As i was watching, i saw the commercial for the Tide Loads Of Hope. This is a great way to lend a helping hand without really having to do anything. For every bottle of Yellow Cap Tide you purchase, a portion of that money goes to people affected by some sort of disaster. I Would love to help out with this, but myself and my son are both Allergic to Tide, :( Which sucks. But if your like us, and have an allergy, Just hope on over to the Tide site and you can help in other ways. This is like getting a million dollars to some of these families. When a natural disaster strikes, you never know what your going to do. Psych Evaluations and Neurology.... Oy Vey

I have for the last 3 months been trying to get my son an Psych Evaluation so we can have a diagnosis of what exactly is wrong with him. His dr. and his therapists all agree he may be autistic. No matter what it is, it dosn't matter to me and daddy, we will still love him and be by his side no matter what. But its sooooo hard to even get someone to schedual an appt. for him in Pittsburgh. We are on like 5 waiting lists, and waiting for like 4 other places to call us back to see if they can get him in or not. I know there are millions of children that need to have these evaluations, but seriously, there isn't one place in Pittsburgh that can schedual a dang appt?? Do i really have to be on a waiting list for 5 months?? This is crazy! I'm about to start researching other places in the surrounding states to see if i can find someplace that can get him in sooner and just fly or drive there and get it done. I want to know if there is something wrong with my little man. I'm sure there is something going on, he's 23lbs at 2.5 yrs old and he has such a bad temper and has a horrible track record with his behavior and he can't play with more than one toy at a time or he goes into his panic hand shaking act. I am currently waiting for a call back from Childrens Hospital's Child Develepment Unit, hoping that they can squeeze us in sometime soon. I know they are moving their location to a new AMAZING hopstial they just built, but just gime a call here people. i will take only like 5 minutes of your time. Damien's Dr's and Therapists have all suggest the CDU at Childrens, so i thought i would take a shot and give them a call. Well i called and i got an Answering service, and they say, i'll send them your message and someone will be in contact with you to schedual an appt. They never say, Someone will call you back today, or tomorrow, its just someone will call you. So this could also be a waiting game. I hate waiting.

The newest thing that we are trying to deal with is getting an appt. with Neurology at Childrens. Damien has started having Headaches to the point where he holds his head and cries, and cries Tears! He isn't big on crying unless something is REALLY hurting him. So i know that something is going on. When he was a baby they found an arachnoid cyst on his brain. They assured me that it was nothing to worry about and that all kids have them. Well all i know is that if i see the Neurologist and he tells me the headaches are because of the Cyst, you best bet someone is getting a lawsuit from me. I find it hard to belive that all kids have them. I'm throwing the BS flag at that dr. over and over again. I have done my research, and even if they say its Benign, it can still cause issues for your kido!

As i said before, don't ever second guess youself as a mom, you know whats best for your child. If you don't agree with what a dr. says, speak up, it never hurts to have extra tests run just for your own peace of mind. Yes it may be costly, but Is your child really comparable to Money? I don't think so!

7 Day Stomach Virus From Hell....

Sorry for the disappearance loyal readers, my son caught that horrible stomach bug where he threw up EVERYTHING for 6 days and had diarrhea too. And all us moms out there know that that will sooner or later lead to Dehydration, which is a trip to the ER for you and your kido! We actually made 3 trips to the ER with my son for this stomach bug. So everyone keep an eye on your kidos when they get sick. Being Dehydrated is a very bad thing.

: Hes not a fan of the name band they put on him at the ER

Keep your eyes open for the signs of Dehydration:
-No tears when they are crying
-Dry Mouth and Lips
-If you lightly punch the skin on their wrist, it should go right back down, if not, they are Dehydrated.
-Little or No pee within a 6 hr period
-Very tired
-Very Thirsty
-Wrinkly Skin

And also Remember, this stomach bug is Virual, so there isn't anything they can give your kidos to get rid of it. The only thing that they could offer me for my son was Anti-nausea meds,which didn't work for him at all. Just stock your house with Pedialyte, either the drink or if your kido is big enough, the freezie pops and get them to take as much of this as possible. Yes, they may just puke it all back up, but some of it will stay in. But as a mother, you know whats best for your child, and if you feel that the fluids arn't staying enough, don't ever second guess yourself as a mom, take your child directly to the ER to get an IV and Fluids. It never hurts to be over worried, its your job as a mom. I decided to take my son to the ER when he hadn't pee'd in like 6 hours and was super pale. That is a def. sign of Dehydration.

Thankfully, he is now starting to feel better. Still running a little temp, but atleast he is back to being able to eat without throwing it all up and hes up and moving around again. He lost 2lbs from all of this,which sucks, but he'll put it back on. I'll be posting more fun stuff here later, so keep your eyes open! :)

My son has a lot of signs of being autistic, and i have a neice who is autistic, and know many other autistic children, so when i read this post online today, i decided it was worthy of a repost.

Did you know over 67 million people around the world are affected by autism including here in Bahrain? Today marks World Autism Awareness Day - only one of three official diseases specified by United Nations days.

Events are being held all over the world in recognition of this day - including here in Bahrain.

On the December 18, 2007, the UN General Assembly by unanimous consent adopted Resolution 62/139, which declared April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day.

The resolution, which Bahrain is a co-sponsor of, encourages all member states to take measures to raise awareness of autism throughout society, to promote early diagnosis and early behavioural intervention and to acknowledge the high rate of autism in all regions of the world and the consequent development challenges to long term health care, education, training and intervention programmes.

Autism affects individuals regardless of race, socioeconomic status or geography. Its causes are unknown, and it affects more boys than girls.

In some areas around the world the prevalence of autism is increasing.

Autism is a complex brain disorder that inhibits a person's ability to communicate and develop social relationships, and is often accompanied by behavioural challenges. However, early diagnosis and intervention improves the lives of people affected.

Child Hood Asthma Rant

The last couple weeks have been pretty crazy for me and my 2.5 yr old son, due to his Asthma! Its been so out of no where. He has the inhallers and the nebulizer, and it just dosn't seem to be getting any better. I'm so super worried all the time to the point where i'm not sleeping at night. I talked to his drs. and they put him on a daily, 2 times a day new inhaller, but i'm seeing no improvment in the last 3 weeks. So now its time for me to play paranoid mom and do my online research.

Every time we go to the dr. about this, they always say, are you sure its his asthma and not a cold?? I'm 10000% sure its not a cold. I went onto pediatricasthma.com and they have lists of whats asthma and whats a cold.

ASTHMA

Coughing (especially at night)

Wheezing — a whistling sound when your child breathes

Rapid breathing, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing

Tightness in chest

COLD

Coughing

Sore throat

Runny, stuffy nose

Sneezing

Low-grade fever

Now Come On can you see the difference there? I know whats wrong with my kido. One thing i'm not so sure about is the cause of his Asthma! I have been told by a few different dr. that this could all be because of his G.E.R.D. How can G.E.R.D trigger Asthma? Granted, when he has an eppisode, he does cough a lot and cries, but i dont remember the last time that happened we had an asthma problem. Right now hes on Albuteral, Pulmacort, Flovent and Previcid. The only thing that really seems to work is when we use the nebulizer with the pulmacort and the albuteral. This really limits the amount of fun we can have.

I am not 100% sure what exactly can be done but i'll keep on researching till i find something out.

Sorry for my Rant, just very paranoid and worried mommy.

Laundry Day=Fun For the Kids

I HATE laundry Day! Its normally ever couple of days lately. But i recruit my little guy to help me out every time. And tomake it more fun, i put a couple of his things in his own personal Laundry Pop Up Hampers. These things are ADORABLE! I am always on the hunt for a deal and i went to The Family Dollar the other day to get a closet organizer, and i came across these awsome little Laundry Pop Up Hampers. My son thinks he is the biggest kid around when he goes toting this down the hall to the laundry room.

Not only will these help with space saving, they only cost $3!!!!!! BARGIN!!!!! They had them in the Cat, Duck andPanda Bear! You can find these all over the place, but i'm sure you will pay a lot more for them at a department store or online. They are made of Mesh, so you can't put a lot in them, but they are great for when your washing that light load of whites or onesies or for a dirty clothes bin in the bathroom. And it will keep your Kidos happy and content while your trying to lug the big laundry basket back to the bedroom.

There is always something you can find, to amuse the kidos and help keep them calm while you do your Regular Mom Duties.

Cloth Diapers....Save A "Butt" Load

I adore the cloth diapers because, number one, ITS GREEN!! :) No more filling up the land fills with diapers. Number two, You save so much money! Number three, They are adorable and come in so many different designs! I'm a stay at home mom so these are so convient. We have an accident, we just toss them in the washer, and there ya go. I'm all about being Green, so i switched from disposable to REUSABLE!! :) Save the environment! Weather your a new mom, an expecting mom, or a go green Grammy, there is always room for Cloth Diapers!

Do the environment a favor, switch to cloth diapers. Just think how much earth and life you are preserving for your children when they grow up.

Stay At Home Mom vs. Working Mom

Everyone has a different view on this topic. Stay at Home Mom or Working mom? I, myself am a stay at Home mom and a Working Mom! I work from home which makes my life pretty hecktic, but livable! I make the money i need plus i spend time with my son. My son is my life, and i'll do whatever i have to to make sure hes well taken care of since i'm the only one working to make that happen. My main job is MOM. I consider myself SUPER MOM! Because i not only bring in the money, i clean the house, do the laundry, make dinner every night, take my son to all his appts. give my son his bath and put him to bed every night and have fun doing it all. I may complain about how hard it is, and how i need a break, but you know what, i wouldn't change it for the world. Being a Mom is the best feeling in the world.

Not exactly what i thought i would hear! Being a Stay at home mom is a full time job. People think we just sit around playing with our kids toys and hanging out at the park all day, and as all of us Stay at home Mom's know, Its far from that! We have to keep the house clean, feed the kidos, take care of the kidos, do the laundry, take our kidos to dr.s appts. and the list goes on and on! Trade just one day of your Full Time Job for One Day of My MOM Job, and tell me its easy and i'll gladly tell you your full of crap! We don't get breaks, we don't get to leave the "Office" and we are lucky if we get to sit down for 5 minutes let alone have a nice comfy desk job.

Its not Easy being a stay at home mom and its not easy being a working mom but we do it, we do it all for our kids! And ladies, the next time someone says, ohh your job is so easy, being a stay at home mom, just reach over and smack the crap out of them and tell them, YOU HAVE NO IDEA!!!!!

Amazon Toy Review

So i was doing a search on the top toys for preschool age kids and google gave me Amazon.com and a list of the top like 20 toys! I found these talking fridge magnets. They look pretty awsome. You put the base on your Fridge, and the kidos can put each letter in the base and hear the sound it makes and also sing along with the alphabet song. The peices are chunky so that the little ones can grasp them, which in turn helps develope more fine motor skills. The base interacts with each letter, making the sound of the letter and playing a playful son to help remember the letters. I have to give this a 9 out of 10 on the Mommy List! I'll def. be picking this up for my son. Only $21.99

One of my other favorites that they list in the top toys for Amazon is the Vtech Tote N' Go Laptop! My son just loves this. It has 30 interactive activities and is just like mommy and daddys computer! My son constantly wanted to play with my laptop, and after breaking one, i desided we should get him his own, and when we did,he was so excited. Now he sits content for atleast and hour. You Mommy's know what i mean, atleast enough time for a cup of coffee and a glance at the paper. This nifty little computer comes with the mouse, which can be used on the right or left handed kidos! When it flips shut, it has a handy little carry handle so they can tote it all over the place. Its a very durable toy, my son has steped on his, thrown it on the floor, beat it with other toys and its still kicking! Great deal.....$33.50

Toy Recalls!!!!

There is a new toy/Items daily usually that is put on the recall list for either choking hazords or falls or something. I think these things should be tested a little more careful, these are our children that we are giving these things to, our children we are placing in these faulty items. I always check the recall lists before i buy anything for my son. I just can't take the risk of anything happening to him because of someones screw up. So heres a few of the latest things put on the recall list! Check everything you have to make sure its not going to cause a problem for your kidos!

Bead Maze Toys

ImagiPLAY recalled about 500 bead maze toys (sold at toy retailers nationwide from August 2008 through October 2008) after discovering that the trees could detach, exposing a metal screw, which posed a laceration hazard to young children.

Casper Halloween Figurines

Coyne's & Company Inc. recalled about 14,000 Casper the Friendly Ghost figurines (sold at gift, specialty, card, and drug stores nationwide from June 2005 through September 2008) after discovering that the figurines contained paint with high levels of lead.

Stroller Activity Bars

International Playthings Inc. recalled about 10,000 Taggies Strollin' Along Stroller Activity Bars (sold at specialty toy stores nationwide and on the Internet from February 2007 through July 2008) after discovering that the shiny material on the elephant's ear on the activity bar could detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Fisher-Price Pots & Pans Toys

Fisher-Price recalled about 15,000 Learning Pots & Pans toys (sold at discount department and toy stores nationwide from October 2007 to August 2008) after discovering that missing screws in the blue toy pan could cause the clear plastic cover to come loose and release small balls, presenting a choking hazard to young children.

State Farm® Recalls Good Neigh Bears

Distributor: State Farm, of Bloomington, Ill.

Hazard: The eyes on these bears can come off, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Incidents/Injuries: State Farm received one report of the plastic eye of a bear coming off and a child placing it in her mouth. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves the 11-inch (28 cm) and 18-inch (46 cm) State Farm Good Neigh Bears with plastic eyes. The bears are brown and wear a white and red State Farm shirt.

Hazard: The wires under the hood of the car and/or in the battery compartment under the seat can short circuit, posing a fire and burn hazard to children riding in the car.

In several incidents, smoke was seen coming out from underneath the seat area where the battery is located. In one incident, flames shot from under the hood while a 4-year-old girl was riding the vehicle. No injuries have been reported.

Go Green! Arts and Crafts

Everyone is always falling victim to those cute little chia pets for $14.99. I know they are adorable, and every kid wants the one shapped like an animal, but you don't have to spend that crazy price for them You and your kids can make your own at home, for atleast half the price and more fun.

For this Project, you will need:
-The foot of a stocking or nylon sock
-A rubber band or elastic band
-Saw Dust
-Grass Seeds
-An old yogurt cup or Snack pack Cup
-Google Eyes, Strings, Ribbons, Markers, Paints(items for the decoration of your cup)

Now this is where the fun begins. You let the kido's decorate their cups.
Fill the Toe area of your stocking or sock with the grass seed and then top it off with the saw dust and tie it off at the bottom with the rubber band or elastic band.
Place it in the cup with the grass seeds up. Your kids can add google eyes or whatever they want to the top of the sock/stocking.
Keep your cup full of water to get your grass to start growing. And in a week or two, Your kids will be excited to see that their home made Critters will start to grow green hairs! :)

You can also use some of your favorite Herbs as the hair too moms! Makes for great additives to your special dinner dishes.

You can always make fun arts and crafts while Recycling. For most of you Dads out there, you have your beer bottle lids laying all around in the Garage. Dosn't just toss them in the trash, save them for some fun times with the kids. They can make adorable arts and crafts with a lot of things you can recycle. One thing i came across on craftideas.info was the Bottle Cap Lady Bugs. They are adorable and can be a lot of fun and they are pretty easy to make too.

All you need is:
-Bottle Caps

-Red, Black and White Paint

-Paint Brushes

First you pain the entire bottle cap black. Let that dry and paint on the Red Wings leaving a black stripe between the two wings. After that dries Dip your paint brush tip into the black paint, and dot on the black dots on the wings. And with a toothpick or the tip of the paint brush, use the white paint to dot on the eyes of your lady bug.

These can be a never ending project. The kidos can give them to their friends, or attatch them onto their bookbags or add some cuteness to things around the house.

There are so many different ideas for crafts that will not only save you money but save the environment. The more green you are the more heathy the environment will be for your kidos down the line. And its always good to teach your kids how to recycle and how to reuse items when you can.

The Economy Sucks....Make some cash off your old Baby Stuff

So i finally realized, i have to do something, since i got fired for some stupid ass reasons from the job i had. So i thought about it and i desided, Its time to make the money, one way or the other. And since i'm not a hoe(lol) i desided that it was time to part with my sons old stuff. Clothes, toys, bed, diapers, formula. Anything we dont use anymore, time to give it a shot for another family in hard times. So far, in the last 2 weeks i have made over $300 getting rid of all my sons old things by posting them on Craigslist.com. That site is a life saver. Not only was i able to unload a storage unit full of baby/kids stuff, i was also able to get rid of all my old jeans and clothes that are like 5 sizes to big for me since i started loosing weight. You should all try it. I know we can all use the money. And think about it, how much baby and kid stuff do you have just laying around, taking up space in your house or apartment? How many baby clothes do you have stacked in the top of your kids closets? Go on ladies, Show your husband that just because your a stay at home mom dosn't mean you can't bring in some cash to the house. My hubby didn't even realize things were gone untill i said something. I got a huge Fire Truck shaped toddler bed for my son, and that thing TERRIFIED him to the point that he would be in tears. I had to get rid of it. it wasn't in 100% perfect shape, but a lady handed me $75 out the door for it. Heck Yah!! And the baby clothes, ohh my! I had so many that people just gave me that i didn't put on my son, or were too small or too big. I had box apon box of kids clothes. I so far have sold the 12-18 month clothes, a garbage bag full, for 30$ and the 5T bag full for $50, and the 0-6 Month for $35. Right there is $120! That will pay the electricity bill, pay for more diapers, buy new clothes for the kidos, whatever it may be. Its a great way to open up a can of "I CAN DO ANYTHING" to show everyone that you can do something.

When you look at the Economy, you can't help but become scared, and wonder what is this world going to come to. No more expensive designer clothes, no more dinning out, no more buying un-needed items. Its time to Buckle down ladies, Go ahead and go through all of your old stuff and sell it! Make someone else in this Crap Economy a little more happy, and a little easier on them too. They are living in the same economy we are.

And Not only did Craigslist.com help me make money, it saved me from constant trips to the Dr. with my son and my hubby! We found a kitty outside while taking out the trash, couldn't have been more than 7 or 8 weeks old, so we brought it inside. Bad Idea!! My son broke out in a rash, and my hubby started sneezing and scratching everywhere. I put the little fella up on Craigslist.com just asking for someone to take him into their home and love him, and i had so many responses. I found little "Stitch"(my son named him) a perfect home with a few other kitty friends. He was out of the house within 24 hrs.

And don't forget ladies, anything you can't unload on there, you can always donate to someplace and they will give you a recipt that says you can deduct it when you do your taxes. All well and good there.

Caution with Childrens Meds

I myself had a scare with childrens tylonal with my son. Hes a smart little kido, and figured out how to get it out of the cabinet and open the bottle! Thank God all he did was spill it all over my carpet and didn't ingest any of it! The FDA issued a public health advisory about children's cold meds stating "questions have been raised about the safety of these products and their effectifness." And then shortly there after, they pulled all childrens tylonal multisymptom from the shelves.

I myself only give my son Childrens Motrin now. Its too easy to overdose on Acetaminophen these days. If your in a hurry, or you fogot what time you gave your child other meds or your child gets a hold of a bottle and drinks it. They can all lead to horrible things! it can cause liver and kidney problems or death. over 56,000 people end up in the emergency room each year because they don't measure their childs doseage correct. And now they are saying that tenagers that take Tylonal should be watched, because it is considered a common suicide drug. What has the world come to anymore. And now they are saying infant tylonal concentrated drops are even more deadly towards overdoses than childrens tylonal.

The signs of an acetaminophen overdose are nausea, vomiting, lethargy, and abdominal pain. if you feel that your child might have gotten to much of a dose, seek imediate medical attention. Call poison control, and get to an ER ASAP! Untreated, an acetaminophen overdose can be fatal within a few days.

Just be careful when buying your childs meds. IBUProfine is your best bet! There isn't any acetaminophen in the IBU Profine! But it dosn't mean that wrong dosages of that can't cause harm either. Always ask your childs dr. what the proper dosage is before giving it to your child.

So today is going to start off on a good note! TOY REVIEWS!!! :) We all know we enjoy our kids toys just as much as they do. But i'm going to go ahead and review a few of the newest ones out there and the fun stuff. All the items below are from Learning Express Toys! Their site is great! So many educational and Fun toys. Something for everyone.

This little Lovie Blanket Giraffe is just adorable! My son has on that is a Teddy Bear and sleeps with it every night. Its perfect for dragging through the dirt, and up and down the steps! This is made of all organic material so its safe no matter what. No chemical treatments and its naturally colored. Only $14.99 Momma's! That scores and A+ in my Book!

My son loves anything that you has lots of peices and its a plus if theres a container to put them all in. He absoultly loves this Counting Cookies Jar. There are 10 cookies numbered 1-10 and each cookie has the number on the bottom. The cookie also has the number of candy peices on the top as well. This is great for your little ones that are at the age to start counting things. My son isn't at the age to count things yet but he sure does love putting the cookies back in the cookie jar. And for $16.99.....How can you resist??

This one is absoultly the best thing ever. Family life Saver in my house. Its called the Sleep Sheep. It is an adorable little sleeping sheep that attatches to the side of your childs bed. Safely tucked away inside this little fuzzy guy is a sound box that projects nature sounds and a mommy's heart beat. This will put the entire family to sleep. I just Love it! Its the best $27.99 you will ever spend. Attatch this little baby to the side of the crib, or take it along when you are at Grammy's and choose from the 4 different sound settings, and TADA, like magic, your little one will be sound asleep and you will too!

If you have been trying to teach your little one how to properly use his knife and fork at dinner, this one will help ya out! I just bought these for my son for Xmas, and they are great! They help with hand/eye cordination. They use the little wooden knife to cut apart all the foods. All the foods are split into sections and velcro holds them together and makes it easy for the little ones to chop away at them. My son loves to cut the food apart and share with everyone. The foods are made out of solid wood and are painted with non-toxic paints. Your little one will love the sounds they hear when they chop chop apart his vegies! And another plus, it comes in a little case with a see through top, so storage is easy!

Failur to Thrive.....

I know more than i ever wished to know about Failure to Thrive because my son is in that situation! he is 23.5 lbs and is 2 years old. We struggle daily to get him to try anything new we can possibly try. But his main intake of calories is still the formula, Similac Alimentum! As of late, he has been trying new things, like anything with Ketchup or Sauce on it. Myself and his dr's and Therapists all think this is odd, due to the severity of his Acid Reflux that we have been dealing with since day one. Hes on a daily dose of Previcid and Zantac to try and calm the reflux but it dosn't really do much anymore. But we all also agree that if he is willing to try it, let him have at it.
The one thing you don't want to do when your child is not gaining weight is to try and self diagnose. That never works out! Thats what Dr's get paid for. So if you have any concerns about your childs weight, height, or calorie intake, make sure you seek the advice of your childs Dr! Children for some weird reason grow slower as they age! Some parents seem to go with the old time remedy, feed them more they will gain more weight, or they will have a growth spurt and catch up. Sometimes thats not the case. In most cases, your childs height and weight are genetic from you and your partner and also nurtitional status and weather or not your child has any health issues. If you are uneasy about your childs development physically, Please consult a dr. about his/her issues. Ask them for a full evaluation of your child. They may want to go ahead and do some blood work and other testing on your child to try and figure out what the issue is! I have been through all of that with about 6-10 Dr's for my son. I can't stand to see him cry from having his arm pricked for blood but i just tell him this might figure out how to make you big and strong!
if after all of that, they still can't find an underlying cause to your childs low weight they may refer you to a Pediatric nutritionist and try and help you up the amount of calories your child takes in and help with some ways to get your child to eat a little more or experiement with new foods for more calories. My son has issues with swallowing foods, so his dr suggested we get an Occupational and Speech Therapist along with the Food Therapist, to try and help him develop his speech and learning a little better. And always remember, don't be offended if someone tells you what to try with your child or says your not doing something the correct way. They are there to help! Take their advice and run with it, you never know, it could be what changes everything.
I am a very worried and paranoid parent! I always research everything and talk to whoever i can to find out the true facts on anything they say is wrong with my son. I advise everyone to do the same. This is your childs health and well being we are talking about here, you always want to know exactly whats going on and what to do to fix it. Ask as many questions as you can and want, and address everything and research what you can before making any decisions.

You can request to talk to another parent that is having the same issues you are with your childs growth and find out all the answers to all your questions. Its worth a click.
